Last but not least, let’s talk dining area. A couple years ago I would never have picked black chairs, but one of the words that kept coming up when I was searching our aesthetic and interior design inspiration was Japandi. I kept searching Japanese and Scandinavian minimalism interior design, and I really love and connect with this vibe. It feels calming and intentional, yet mixed with beautiful grounding textures.

  • Dining Table: I found this 86” table at the West Elm outlet. The color is called Cerused White. At the time they had discontinued it, but as of today (March 2023) it’s back. It came unfinished, so we ended up sealing it ourselves. When we sealed the table, it did make it a little bit more yellow and it brought out a lot more of the depth of the wood, but I love how it turned out. I think it looks really great in the space and we were able to fit 10 people at this table during our family reunion. We also got the bench that matched the table at the outlet.
  • Chairs: honestly, my favorite chairs I’ve ever owned and even more beautiful IRL.
  • Korean Cabinet: As I mentioned before, this cabinet is the centerpiece of our kitchen. It was the inspiration behind the black accents that we went with. It was my grandmother's, and she passed it down to my mom, and she passed it down to me — three generations of women — and hopefully I can pass it down to my future child. It looks beautiful here and feels very special. I'm not accessing all parts of it as it is old and I want to preserve it, but we do keep our placemats and our coasters on it, so it does serve a function.

Decor Thoughts

I am planning to do a full home tour, but a theme that you'll notice is that I don't do a lot of decor for the sake of decor. I like the pieces to have a function or a purpose. It's how I cut back on clutter and just reduce the amount of stuff that's in the house.

However, we do have a lot of plants. It's how I like to add life and pops of color when it comes to designing the space. I really like to feel like my home is a sanctuary and I want to feel calm in my space. I had so much fun designing this house! It’s a big compliment to me when people ask who our interior designer is, because it's meee. Haha!

Thank you all so much for hanging out with me and touring my kitchen… That’s a wrap for now!
